SAE is the main producer of voluntary consensus standards for the mobility industry worldwide. Standards are formal documents that establish uniform engineering or technical criteria, methods, processes and practices.
From their first implementation in the early 1900s, SAE’s voluntary standards have saved consumers and the industry billions of dollars. The Global Technology Library-Electric Vehicle (GTL-EV) includes more than 288 ground vehicle standards and their historical revisions, all of which cover some aspect of vehicle electrification, onboard communication, or other forms of electrical wiring and usage.
These standards are vital for purchasers, suppliers, and users of materials, products, and services to understand and agree upon their needs and arrangements. Standards adherence streamlines product production, eases access to markets, and decreases the cost and complexity of post-sale service. The GTL-EV provides all vehicle electrification standards that SAE has or will produce, making them available to each and every subscriber.
